What means post a blind in poker?

Answers:
Generally there are two kinds of forced bet in poker, an ante and a blind.

Older games like draw or stud tend to have only an ante. An ante is a forced bet that everyone makes before they see their cards. The purpose of this is to create action and make the game more interesting. If no one had to place anything in the pot it would frequently be the case that everyone would fold to a single bettor and he would win nothing but his own bet. By forcing money into the pot there is something to win every time. This makes the game more interesting.

Newer poker variations like Hold'em and Omaha have a blind system usually instead of but some times as well as an ante system. In games such as this the deal rotates around the table. If there is physical dealer present, like in a casino, a button moves around the table representing the dealer. The player to the left of the dealer position posts a small blind, and the player to the left of him posts a big blind into the pot. The amount of these forced bets is determined before the game starts. Usually in cash games these amounts stay the same, but in tournaments they increase periodically to force more action.

With two blinds already in the pot the next player to act must at least call the big blind to stay in the hand, or he must fold. He could also raise. If he raises and everyone folds he wins his bet back, plus the small and large blind, and if antes are also used too he wins all that too.

In High Stakes Poker (shown on TV), they play $300/$600 + $100. So in every hand every player must post an ante of $100 before the deal. In addition to that the small blind must post $300 and the big blind must post $600. All this before anyone has looked at cards. At a full table this means that there is $1,900 in the pot before anything happens. This makes people more likely to try and win the pot which makes the game far more interesting to watch.
It is a specific amount of money that players have to put in the pot each hand in rotation. This keeps money in the pot to "kick start" the action. ie: If the game you are playing is 5/10 no limit Texas Holdem then One person posts the small blind of 5$ and the next person to the left posts the big blind of 10$ , so the pot starts off at 15$ before any cards are dealt. The blinds rotate to the left every hand so if there are 10 players you will have to post the small and big blind once every 10 hands. This also keeps people from just sitting there at the table and "watching" without losing any money by forcing people to play. If nobody raises or calls then the small and big blind will be the only 2 people to play that hand
It is the money a player most post without seeing their cards to be dealt into a hand. In Texas Hold Em there is a Small Blind and a Big Blind. For more info on blinds check out http://www.theultimatepokerguide.com...
It's to keep you in the game by saying if you're in or out.
