Oh yes, it's a good idea. The trick is in finding a dealing school that will train you in a shorter time period, not the long periods of schooling that the registered schools have to do.

I trained 21 dealers (Blackjack) in a school that was run by the casino I worked for. Of course, this was not in Nevada nor New Jersey. It was a Native American casino.

Training school costs money. It is a school, just like any other. The good news is that you can earn back the money you spent before too long.

A dealer gets paid a lower wage PLUS TIPS. Many casinos split tips. That means if you worked today, you'd get a share of all the tips that come in during your shift. I have seen these shared tips bring your income up by maybe $6 on up to maybe $15 to $20 PER HOUR. Varying on whatever happens on any given day.

Dealers generally work a 40 hour week. In some cases, they work 12 hour days, (tho that's not the norm.)

The down side of this is that it's easy to lose your job, too. When the economy goes down, dealers get laid off. And, a dealer who doesn't do the job well, or honestly, can expect to be out of work in a hurry!

But, yes, check it out. Dealing is worth the work it takes.
good idea if you work where there is a casino and if they are hiring. they make good money depending on how busy the place is and how good of a dealer they are. you will have to go to dealer school and pass an audition first. you can probably let them know what hours you want to work but i'm sure they will need you available during tournaments and busy times (this is when you will want to work anyway cause its where the money is)...you might have to start and work your way up to the good shifts also.
phone the casinos and ask them your questions
