Sports gambling vs lottery?

someone give me some thoughts

Do you think sports betting is more of a middle class action.
where the lottery is played by poor people?
do you think this is true?

should we legalize sports betting. and get taxes from it?
Answers:
I would love to see it, but the first politician that tries to do this will likely get destroyed. The fact is that even though not all gambling is compulsive, the public perception is that it is.

However, the overall hypocricy of the government's stance on gambling is irritating. Sure, online gaming is dangerous, but 18 year olds are allowed to go to the gas station and load up on -EV lotto tickets. The truth is that they haven't found a way to effectively tax online gaming, and thus it's a nice place for politicians to get on a moral high horse. In the lottery, the government is essentially the bookie and can reap the benefits, so it's not going anywhere. If they could find a way to generate money through sportsbooks, it could at least become a possibility.

Recap:
- Lottery generates money for the government.
- Sports betting could too, but it has a very negative connotation in the minds of most voters.

However, I don't know why the "middle class" v. "poor people" is relevant. I don't think it's true either. Ever been to a sportsbook? You get a mix of all sorts of people that both bet sports and play lottery.
Lottery is played by every class of people,I think even the rich would not mind getting a little richer,as for legalizing sports betting and get taxes from it (do not think will happen).BUT,elections is comingup let's see if any of the many candidates have this in their campaign promises,GOT MY VOTE!
I used to have a good friend that was a bookie and believe me, there are plenty of low-life degenerates that bet on sports, just as there are plenty of high class people that bet on all manner of things. Just go to any fancy golf course and look at the betting that goes on there; at my course there is a $5,000 a hole skins game that goes on every Sunday.

Yes, it is senseless to make it illegal when it is going to happen anyway and thus filter the would-be taxes straight into the black market. Oh wait, was I talking about gambling or drugs or prostitution? It is a slippery slope and that's why the politicians will never let it happen; it sucks.
First, I'll give you some information about the Lottery.

The Lottery is rigged, meaning that winning numbers are selected based on what "guesses" are inputted by the players, not by random chance, and designed to give out the least possible money. That does NOT mean making everybody lose; it means OCCASIONALLY allowing people to win, just to keep them playing, and selecting a few "lucky individuals" who they constantly give the prize to, to keep the public hopeful. They are giving out the least amount of money possible.

I DO know for sure that Lottery money does NOT fund general education; it goes to the General Assembly.

So the Lottery is a scam and not worth it. Plus, even if it wasn't, it would STILL not be worth it, because the odds of winning SUCK. Put it this way: Take a HUGE bag of pennies, lay them out alongside a highway for 118 miles and try picking the right one. Those are your odds.

As for sports gambling, that is fair and not a scam, so I suggest doing that. ;-)

Sports gambling should be legal, but Lottery should be illegal.
